Front Door Grant
The City of Champlin sponsors a housing grant program in 2026 called the Front Door Grant. The program pays a portion (20-30%) of project costs to Champlin property owners who will make certain exterior improvements to the front of their home.
Applications open on January 1st, 2026. The funds are disbursed first-come, first-served, so be sure to get your applications in early! Apply here.
Qualifications:
- Single-family, 1-4 unit, owner-occupied homes
- Estimated home value not to exceed $450,000
- Income is limited to 115% of area median income (AMI) based on family size
- Current on taxes
- Has homestead status with Hennepin County
- Project is not part of an insurance claim
Eligible Projects:

| Soffit and Facia | Deck / Porch (front or side yard) |
| Gutters | Window Boxes and Shutters |
| Chimney | Fences (chain-link is NOT eligible) |
| Siding and Trim (including brick, stones, shakes, vinyl, etc.) | Driveway |
| Windows | Roofing (including altering roof line), plus at least one additional, eligible improvement of a minimum of $1,000 |
Front Door, Storm Door, and sidelight windows for the front door | Covered Front Porch and Columns on Front Porch |
| Permanent Landscaping (Retaining Walls, removing dead/diseased trees, planting of trees and shrubs) | Sidewalk and Front Steps (repair/replace) |

Cost and Pay Out:
The city will match 20-30% of the project costs, equaling $1,000-8,000 per awarded applicant. The homeowner must cover the remaining 70-80% of the project costs, investing a minimum of $4,000 of their funds. Funds are disbursed after the project is complete.
- If your income is 80% Area Median Income or below, you will receive a 30% grant from the city. You are responsible for 70% of the project costs.
- If your income is 81-115% Area Median Income, you will receive a 20% grant from the city. You are responsible for 80% of the project costs.
How to Apply:
Applications open on January 1st, 2026; the funds are first-come, first-served. The program is administered by the Center for Energy and Environment. View the Center for Energy and Environment website to apply online starting 1/1/2026. Here are the items necessary to complete your application:
- Application form
- Proof of income
- Proof of identity
- Bid or estimate for the proposed project
