Chickens

Chickens within Champlin require a permit and inspection. The permit form and supplement acknowledgment form are below. 

Here are important regulations to be aware of:
  • The permit form requires a drawing of the coop and a lot survey identifying where the coop will be located. 
  • 4 chickens for lots greater than 12,000 sq ft
  • Up to 6 chickens for lots 21,780 sq ft (1/2 acre) or greater
  • No roosters allowed
  • Chickens must be kept in a fenced in area not exceeding 40 sq ft per bird 
  • The coop must be located in the rear yard and be 10 feet from the lot line
