Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)

The City of Champlin has been preparing for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) infestation since 2013. The preparations have included studying best practice management and developing an EAB management plan. In March 2018, EAB was confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to be present in the City of Champlin. City staff has since been working with resident businesses and homeowners to assist in identifying potential EAB in their ash trees.

Agreement with Rainbow Tree Company

The City of Champlin has negotiated an agreement with Rainbow Treecare Company to offer tree trunk injections / inoculations to tree ash trees. These injections will protect against EAB for two years. Pricing is an agreed-upon contract cost per Diameter Inch at Breast Height (DBH) in the tree care industry. For 2019, the negotiated price to residents is $5.75 per inch at DBH. View the Rainbow Treecare Company website if you should suspect EAB infestation of your ash trees, you are encouraged to contact City Staff and or Rainbow Treecare to review the symptoms your ash trees are experiencing. Residents are also welcome to contact their own contractors to treat or remove trees.
