Grants
There are two local environmental grant programs sponsored by the Champlin Environmental Resource Commission (ERC). The first is the Landscaping for Water Quality Grant and the second is the Environmental Education and Project Grant.
The City supports neighborhood landscaping practices that improve water quality and expand pollinator habitat. To encourage these practices and to demonstrate their potential for successfully fulfilling both environmental and aesthetic requirements, the City has established the Landscaping for Water Quality Grant, which is open to residents, businesses, community associations, and schools, with a maximum of $500 for a single project in $2000 for a group project. Interested? Check back in Spring 2024.
The second program is the Environmental Education and Project Grant. Within this program, education is one of the two eligible funding categories. Monies may be used to cover the costs of materials, speakers, field trips, and similar expenses that may be needed to carry out the education process. The education efforts must focus on environmental education. The second category is environmental projects; past projects have included the development of recycling program and the construction of bird houses. The ERC is looking for creative ideas that make a strong impact with the limited funds that are available. The parameters for the award of this grant are intentionally broad to encourage unique ideas. Local schools and community organizations are eligible for up to $2000 through this program. Interested? Check back in Spring 2024.
