This free eight-session course is offered every spring and is designed to strengthen relations between the police and the community. Participants gain firsthand experience of what it's like to be an officer.
Participants learn about various aspects of law enforcement, including Criminal Investigations, DWI Enforcement, Drug Task Force, Firearm Training Simulator (FATS), Traffic Enforcement, and Radar Use. They meet a Hennepin County Medical Examiner, watch a K-9 Demonstration, and tour Plymouth's Hennepin County Dispatch Center. They learn about the Use of Force and the laws governing police weaponry and squads. They'll view a Taser X26 demonstration and tour the fire and police station. Additionally, participants will receive CPR training and learn to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
Attendees must live or work in Champlin, be 16 years or older, and pass a basic background check.
