Champlin, MN – On 01/09/2026, Champlin Police Officers responded to a report of a baby not breathing in the 11900 block of Castle Rock Court in the City of Champlin. Officers arrived to discover an infant that was not breathing, as well as an adult in medical distress. Officers rendered first aid, and both individuals were transported to a nearby hospital, where medical staff declared the infant deceased. Officers were assisted by members of the Anoka-Champlin Fire Department and Allina Paramedics.
Champlin Investigators were called to the scene and began processing evidence and conducting interviews, including a post-Miranda statement from the surviving adult. Evidence led Investigators to believe this was a murder/attempted suicide. On 01/13/2026, Champlin Investigators submitted the case to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.
On this same date, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for second-degree murder. The suspect remains in the care of medical officials in an area hospital. When cleared from the hospital, the suspect will be booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
Champlin Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, and at the time of this release, the case is still considered active.
