Champlin Police Department Honors First Responders for Heroic Actions on June 14, 2025
Champlin, MN – Tonight at the Mississippi Crossings Event Center, the Champlin Police Department, Mayor, and City Council honored the first responders whose lifesaving decisions on June 14, 2025, helped prevent further tragedy during the attempted assassination of Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.
During the ceremony, Champlin Police Officers, Allina Health EMS Paramedics, a Maple Grove Police Officer, and Hope Hoffman were recognized for their exceptional bravery and composure under extreme circumstances. Each honoree received the Champlin Police Department Lifesaving Award.
"You exemplify the highest standard of law enforcement service. For your bravery, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting life, you are hereby awarded the Champlin Police Department Lifesaving Award," said Police Chief Glen Schneider.
Additional recognition came from Senator John Hoffman, who presented the first responders with a framed Senate resolution and a personal thank you.
"You responded to the unfolding attack without hesitation. What you provided for myself and my family that night is beyond words and beyond scope," Hoffman said.
Additionally, Hope Hoffman was commended by the Champlin Police Department for her extraordinary composure and assistance during the critical moments of the June 14 incident. Champlin Police Chief Glen Schneider stated, "Ms. Hoffman’s courage, presence of mind, and willingness to assist under extreme circumstances exemplify the highest ideals of civic responsibility. Her actions not only contributed to saving the lives of her parents but also to the successful resolution of a dangerous and chaotic incident."
