109th Ave Reconstruction Project Phase 1 Detour Map

109th Avenue Project Update – August 29, 2025

East Side of Highway 169 Now Open to Traffic:

We’re pleased to announce that 109th Avenue, east of Highway 169, is now open to traffic. Please note that the new traffic signals at Xylon Lane and Winnetka Avenue have not yet been installed. In the meantime, temporary traffic control measures are in place:

• Winnetka Avenue & 109th Avenue: All-way stop

• Xylon Lane & 109th Avenue: 109th Avenue has the right-of-way (side street stop signs)

We also want to inform residents that as part of Brooklyn Park’s Rush Creek Trail underpass project south on Winnetka Avenue, the road is closed approximately half a mile south of 109th Avenue. Please plan your routes accordingly and follow detour signage. As the new school year begins, we expect increased traffic and encourage all drivers to exercise caution when traveling through this area.

West Side of Highway 169 (near the Jefferson Highway intersection):

Utility relocation work by Xcel Energy and Comcast is still underway on the west side of Highway 169.  Much of the City's planned construction in this area cannot move forward until the old power poles are removed, a step expected to happen within the next few weeks.  Due to this delay, we anticipate project completion on the west side of Hwy 169 later this fall.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community’s infrastructure.
