109th Avenue Reconstruction Project Update – August 13, 2025Construction along 109th Avenue has been steadily progressing over the past several weeks. East Side of Highway 169 (between Zealand and Winnetka Avenues): The contractor continues to make progress on restoration, landscaping, and the final layer of pavement for the project area. However, installation of the new traffic signals at Xylon Lane and Winnetka is still pending. While the signal poles were ordered months ago, prior to the contractor's bid, they are unfortunately not yet available for delivery. As a result, this will delay the opening of this section of the roadway. At this time, we do not expect 109th east of 169 to open until the signals are installed, which may not occur until late September. We’re actively coordinating with the school district to make sure the bus company is aware of the current road closures and can plan their routes accordingly for the start of the school year. West Side of Highway 169 (near the Jefferson Highway intersection): Utility relocation work by Xcel Energy and Comcast is still underway on the west side of Highway 169. Much of the City's planned construction in this area cannot move forward until the old power poles are removed, a step expected to happen within the next few weeks. Due to this delay, we anticipate project completion on the west side of Hwy 169 later this fall. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We'll keep you updated as the 109th Avenue Reconstruction Project progresses. ************************************************************** Project Webpage: 109th Avenue Reconstruction Project Road Closure & Detour Information: View the 109th Detour (PDF) Project Timeline: - East of Highway 169: Closure through September 2025
