Champlin, our vision is safe and thriving communities! Our mission is to provide stability and security for all! With that in mind, the City Council has been hard at work on the 2023 Budget. Six work sessions in and PUBLIC SAFETY remains at the forefront of next year’s priorities, aligning with our community vision and mission.
It’s true, our police department has been staffed with 27 officers since the 90’s. Come 2023, as part of a historically bold initiative to preserve the safety of our community, the City Council has UNANIMOUSLY decided to add three officers to support an ongoing commitment to STAY TOUGH ON CRIME in Champlin. The addition of three new officers will bolster city-wide coverage by increasing the minimum on-duty patrol from two to three per shift.
Nearly 1/3 of the new initiatives impacting the 2023 Property Tax Levy are dedicated to public safety and half of the general operating levy increase will be used to address ongoing staffing and supportive service needs in our police department. We look forward to sharing more on the wide array of new City-service initiatives and enhancements proposed to be included in the 2023 Operating Budget come November. Be sure to follow
